Dr. Muhammad Ali Abid is a research scholar in Dr. Massimo Iorizzo’s laboratory. His research focuses on the understanding of molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation and biosynthesis of secondary metabolite accumulation in plants, including anthocyanins, carotenoids and organic acids. The ultimate goal is to identify genes and candidate mutations controlling secondary metabolite accumulation that can be targeted for DNA-assisted breeding either through marker-assisted selection or gene editing.
