Liangliang Gao

Bio

Dr. Gao works as a research scholar in Dr. Massimo Iorizzo’s lab, where their research focuses on the quality and genomics of vegetables and fruits. The lab studies various crops (blueberries, carrots and more) to improve their nutritional value, shelf life, and resistance to diseases. By exploring the genetic basis of traits such as flavor, texture, and nutrient content, Liang aims to enhance the overall quality of produce. Using expertise in genomics, molecular biology, and bioinformatics, Liang is working to identify key genetic markers associated with desirable traits in fruits and vegetables. Some of the extended research could involve the study of how these plant-based bio-molecules impact or benefit human health, nutrition and wellbeing.
