Brianna Haynes is a Masters student working under Dr. Penelope Perkins-Veazie and Dr. Gina Fernandez in the Horticultural Science Department. Her research focuses on small fruits, mainly strawberries and raspberries, and has both traditional plant breeding and postharvest aspects. Primary components involve fully characterizing the North Carolina strawberry breeding program’s germplasm collection by means of anthocyanin content and profiles, phenolics, soluble sugars, acidity, and overall fruit quality. Brianna is also working on a Rubus genomics project.
