More information about Abdulkerim Eroğlu

The laboratory of Dr. Abdulkerim Eroğlu is working to illustrate the effects of inflammation and oxidative stress on carotenoid and retinoid metabolism using in vitro and animal models. Establishing chemoprevention of cancer by carotenoids and studying the diet-gene interactions to link carotenoids to various health outcomes are two additional research foci. Dr. Eroğlu is also identifying functional biomarkers for the biological activity of major circulating carotenoids.

His research interests in Biochemistry are:

  • Carotenoid chemistry and metabolism
  • Enzymology
  • Epigenetics
  • Lipid metabolism
  • Metabolomics
  • Metagenomics
  • Proteomics
  • Retinoid metabolism

His research interests in Nutrition are:

  • Biomarkers
  • Biofortification of crops
