Harry Schulz is a research technician who splits his time between the Lila lab and Moncada lab supporting researchers and students in their analytical work. He previously worked in Kay lab and Eroglu lab at PHHI, working to develop and implement methods for the analysis of metabolites using an LCMS, as well as working on HPLC analysis of carotenoid content in tissue and plant samples and using cell cultures in toxicity and immune modulation assays.
Schulz previously worked for the NC BioNetwork (which offers resources for businesses and schools including training, STEM promotion and lab services) in their natural products laboratory as a lab assistant preparing standards for analysis, designing a laboratory skills class for a local Community College and performing lab analysis of products. He also worked for a small natural products company that produced organic goldenseal tinctures and capsules, creating and updating documents and providing lab support including organoleptic analysis, moisture content, ash analysis, yeast and mold counts, microbial counts and assisting with method development. In addition, he worked for a small cosmetics company performing quality control and assurance testing during the manufacturing process. Interests outside of biology include jazz, art, food and travel.
