Bio

Everette Rhymer earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Catawba College, where he worked on his first research project investigating the anti-cancer effect of various botanicals. That experience led him to pursue a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology & Biotechnology at East Carolina University. At ECU, he studied the cell mechanisms necessary for the establishment of the Drosophila testis stem cell niche. He is currently a graduate student in Slavko Komarnytsky’s lab, studying TAS2R bitter receptors in the gut and how they respond to certain bitter compounds to lower blood glucose levels as well as improve overall metabolic health.
