Research Summary: Erika’s research is focusing on the evaluation of the effects of environmental pollution as a source of oxidative stress on the skin, and on the molecular and signal pathways involved in the cellular responses to these stimuli. In this context, studying how to counteract the pollution-induced cutaneous inflammation through dietary interventions and/or topical applications of phytochemicals present in berry extracts could help us preventing the occurrence of skin diseases and/or improving the preexisting conditions.
