Presentations by N.C. Research Campus postdoctoral fellows.
Advances in personalized nutrition led by scientists from the UNC Chapel Hill Nutrition Research Institute.
Keynote speaker Dr. Ana S. Iltis, director of the Center for Bioethics, Health and Society at Wake Forest University.

12:25 p.m. – Opening Remarks

12:30 p.m. – Sergey Krupenko, PhD, Professor of Nutrition, UNC Chapel Hill Nutrition Research Institute. Dr. Krupenko studies the role of folate metabolism in cellular homeostasis and cancer disease.

12:45 p.m. – Poster Session

1:45 p.m. – Natalia Krupenko, PhD, Assistant Professor of Nutrition, UNC Chapel Hill Nutrition Research Institute. Dr. Krupenko’s laboratory investigates the molecular mechanisms by which the essential nutrient folate and folate-related methylation pathways maintain the normal functions of an organism, and how disruptions of folate metabolism lead to development of diseases.

2:00 p.m. – Saroja Voruganti, PhD, Assistant Professor of Nutrition, UNC Chapel Hill Nutrition Research Institute. Dr. Voruganti researches how genetic and environmental factors influence hyperuricemia (gout) and associated diseases such as diabetes and cardiorenal disease using a combination of genetic, metabolomic, statistical and bioinformatic approaches.

3:30 p.m. – Keynote Speaker: Dr. Ana S. Iltis, Director of the Center for Bioethics, Health and Society at Wake Forest University. Dr. Iltis has a background in healthcare and research ethics. She serves on National Institutes of Health (NIH) data safety monitoring boards, publishes regularly on bioethics and serves in editorial positions for bioethics journals.

4:30 p.m. – Poster Competition Prizes and Closing Remarks

4:45 p.m. – Reception
