N.C. State Fair 2012

The 2012 North Carolina State Fair runs October 11-21 in Raleigh. This year’s theme is “Bumper Crop of Fun.” A bumper crop is a slang term to describe an exceptional harvest.

N.C. State’s Pack ‘N Cool mobile cooling unit is on display in the Exposition Center at the 2012 N.C. State Fair.

The N.C. State Fair is the largest 11-day event in North Carolina, attracting more than 1 million attendees in both 2010 and 2011. First held in 1853, The Fair hosts many diverse musical acts, numerous food vendors, games booths and carnival rides, and various exhibitors. Beyond the bright lights of the Midway, however, the N.C. State Fair has focused on celebrating North Carolina’s rich agricultural heritage. The Fair is managed and produced by the N.C. Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services and is consistently ranked among the top 25 fairs in North America.

The Plants for Human Health Institute will have a presence at this year’s Fair, displaying the Pack ‘N Cool mobile cooling unit, which combines the mobility of a cargo trailer with the refrigeration capabilities of a commercial cooler at a more efficient cost. The Pack ‘N Cool is located in the Exposition Center, which is connected to the Jim Graham Building via a breezeway.
