Plants For Human Health Institute

Mr. Franco Canales works in the lab of Dr. Slavko Komarnytsky. Canales is in charge of lab operations, which include maintenance of laboratory equipment, leading experiments conducted, guiding lab personnel (interns and future staff) and supervising day-to-day lab activities. Research projects involve working with rare fruits and plant cells from different parts of the world with the objective of discovering new drugs or treatments to combat metabolic diseases. Canales began working with the Plants for Human Health Institute as an intern in January 2010. He is now part of the Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences.
